The North Little Rock Public Library System is primarily funded by taxpayers in North Little Rock. Grants support special projects, programming initiatives, and more that enrich the library and our patrons' experiences.

How Does Grant Funding Work?

Exploring and Applying

Our grant manager is always on the hunt for exciting funding opportunities! Staff members work together to plan, write, and submit our applications.

Receiving and Implementing

It's a great day when the library is awarded a grant! It's time to put those dollars to work and start offering new programs, services, and more.

Reporting and Repeating

Grant spending is reported to the funder, library administration, and other stakeholders. We apply for new grants all the time, so the process begins again!

Summer Library Fun

Stop by the Laman Library this summer for some great educational events!

Supported by the Curtis H. Sykes Memorial Grant Program, our Genealogy Room will be home to a poster exhibit about the Odd Fellows Cemetery and digitizing equipment like a scanner and audio recording equipment.

Children and families can explore the past, present, and future of scientific innovation at events funded by Science Across America! Visit us this summer for hands-on STEAM activities for kids ages 4-12.

Mobile Makerspace in 2026

The Mobile Makerspace travels all over Arkansas, bringing hands-on STEAM learning to schools and organizations. Thanks to the Simmons First Foundation's Make a Difference Grant, MMS is now able to offer financial aid discounts to eligible public schools outside North Little Rock!

The Mobile Makerspace is equipped with high-end technology for unique STEAM offerings. New equipment for 2026 is purchased with support from the Summit Cares Grant Program!

History and Culture at Argenta

In partnership with the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, Argenta Library will have a new roof in 2026! Originally built in 1932, any renovation to the building requires care and attention, and this new roof will ensure the well-being of the building for years to come.

After you admire the new roof, come inside and learn about Argenta's newest event series: Between Two Worlds (B2W), supported by the Yiddish Book Center! Explore Yiddish literature through discussions, book clubs, and interactive activities.

Funding from the PPG Foundation will expand NLRPLS's environmental education programming and support green career exploration.
