Frequently Asked Questions
What to know before you arrive at the Passport Office
- If you need your passport in two weeks or less, please call the National Passport Information Center (1-877-487-2778) to make an appointment at the Arkansas Passport Center in Hot Springs in order to get your passport processed in time.
- We do not take appointments.
- Applicants are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
- All applicants must appear in person in order to have their application processed.
- Applicants under the age of 16 must have both parents or guardians present.
- You should have your application form(s) completely filled out prior to entering the application office. You may be asked to step out and complete the application while other customers' applications are processed.
- You may wish to call (501-404-2937) before you make the trip to the library (especially on the weekends) to ask about possible wait times to be seen by an agent. If the wait is very long, we may not be able to get to you that day. Saturdays are usually busy. You should arrive as close to opening (9am) as possible.
- The application office closes 1 hour prior to the library's closing. This is to give the passport agent time to finish assisting any customer still in the office and to prepare the received applications for mailing the next morning.
- If you are applying through the library (we send it in), we will take your photos for free at our location. If you only need photos and no processing, we will provide your photos for $5.00.
