Each September, your library card comes with serious perks. It all started in 2022, when the North Little Rock Public Library System launched "Check Out North Little Rock," a campaign that offered local business discounts to library cardholders. In 2023 and 2024, we partnered with the Central Arkansas Library System to expand the program across the metro area under the name Bookworm Bargains. In 2025, we went even bigger, with a total of six library systems involved!
Take a guess: How many new (and renewed) library cards do you think the North Little Rock Public Library System issued in September 2025? The NLRPLS alone issued 1,251 library cards!

September Has Been Library Card Sign Up Month Since 1987
September has been celebrated as Library Card Sign-Up Month, a nationwide initiative led by the American Library Association and libraries across the country, for more than three decades. It’s all about encouraging people of all ages to take the first step toward academic success and lifelong learning by signing up for a library card.
