Welcome to the Loft!
Welcome to the Loft!
Laman Library's Teen Department, for teenagers ages 13-18.
The Laman Loft is an inclusive teen space that provides a safe environment for teenagers to gather and access resources and activities tailored to their needs.
The Loft is located on the mezzanine level of Laman Library. Head upstairs using the stairs or elevator located in the Children's Department. Once upstairs, explore fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, manga, music, and more, all part of our YA collection. The Loft is home to our Zine library - browse the collection, and learn how to make your own!
In the Loft, we do all kinds of fun stuff, like Game Nights, Anime Night, Secret Library Parties, STEAM Activities, and Cooking Classes! Like everything in the Loft, our events are only for patrons ages 13-18. Explore all of this month's events at the link below, or pick up a paper schedule in the Loft!
The Loft is located on the mezzanine level of Laman Library, located at 2801 Orange St. in North Little Rock. To get to the Loft, come to the Children's department on the first floor. Use the staircase near the entrance or the elevator, which is across from the restrooms. Staff members are happy to show you the way!
Laman Library is open from 9am-7pm Mondays through Fridays and 9am-1pm Fridays and Saturdays. The Loft is open whenever the library is open.
Guardians or parents seeking their teens may place a call to the Loft at the service desks located in any of the other Laman Library departments. Only patrons ages 13-18 are permitted in the Loft.
Guardians may request a tour of the Loft to assure their students’ safety at the service desks located in any of the other departments.
We recommend reviewing the Loft Rules with your teen!
Teen patrons can access the Loft computers using their library cards for 1-hour time blocks on a first-come, first-served basis. Loft computers are equipped with the same firewalls as any other computer in the library.
Video games and controllers are for in-house use only and must be checked out to a patron’s account. Patrons who damage or leave The Loft with these items may be charged a fee for replacement parts and equipment and may lose library privileges in the future, including privileges to use video game equipment.
Review the study guide, take a practice test, and familiarize yourself with the state’s online app with other teens.
Come learn how to create more plants without planting seeds! All participants will leave with a plant cutting to take home.
Learn about music history, lesser known artists, and how to access playlists for free with your library card!
I enjoy reading slice-of-life fiction, dystopian novels, horror stories, poetry, and graphic memoirs. I like nonfiction on music history, art and fashion, and equitable systems. Reading, creating, and distributing DIY zines are a passion of mine.
I like to read sci-fi and fantasy in fiction. I like to read about my special interests like city planning, sociology, art and style, technology, history, and more in nonfiction.
I enjoy reading nonfiction biographies and how-to books during my spare time. Learning new things excites me.
