A Space Just for Tweens Ages 9-12!
The Lift is home to events and book displays for our tween-aged patrons, located by the elevator to the Loft in the Children's Department of Laman Library. Look for the big arrow, or ask folks at the Children's Desk!
Meet our tween afficionado, Drienne, as they lead fun activities like Tween Dungeons and Dragons, Pokémon Club, and Tween Crafts. Join us at on select Tuesdays and Thursdays for afternoon fun, then swing by on Friday mornings to pick up a weekend activity pack!
Our Monthly Tween Routine
We've got tons of cool stuff for kids 9 to 12 year olds at The Lift! Here's the schedule for September.
- Anime Club: First Tuesdays
Dive into a new anime every month! - Pokemon Club: Second Tuesdays
Learn to play the TCG Pokemon card game and make new friends! - Tween Dungeons and Dragons:
Third Tuesdays and same-week Thursdays
Roll and roleplay with other tweens during our monthly D&D games! - Scratch for Tweens: Fourth and fifth Tuesdays
Enter the world of coding and video game creation! - Activity and Craft Packs: All day on Fridays
Stop by the library to pick up some self-guided fun for the weekend!
Meet Drienne!
A creative, an educator, a loud-mouthed poet, and an absolute silly goose, Drienne Thompson is the tween programming extraordinaire! Special interests include art history, Dungeons and Dragons, tiny crafts, anime, math, and Chinese food. Drienne lets their creativity truly shine in the Children's Department with monthly decor. When they aren't helping tweens find their new favorite read, they are leading an all-ages cooking program, Cooking Without a Kitchen. If you feel a mischievous energy at Laman Library, Drienne must be nearby.
