What Does a Notary Do?
Notaries have a simple but important job when you need a document signed. Notaries verify signers' identities and oversee the signing of documents. A notary's stamp signifies that the signer's identity has been verified by a third party.
Notaries are not lawyers or legal advisors, and notarized documents are not automatically legally enforceable. Library staff members can decline to notarize a document for any reason.
If you have specific questions about notarization in Arkansas, please call the Arkansas Secretary of State's office at 501-682-1010.
