Spring means prom season, and for many teens that also means searching for the perfect dress. The William F. Laman Public Library is making that search easier and more affordable with its Prom Shop, a special event where Arkansas teens can browse more than 300 free formal dresses and take home the one they love.

Whether you’re preparing for prom, a formal dance, or another special event, the Laman Library Prom Shop is designed to help teens feel confident and celebrated without the stress of high costs. Every dress is completely free, and once you choose your outfit, it’s yours to keep.

Free Formal Dresses for Teens Ages 13–18

The Prom Shop is open to Arkansas teens ages 13–18, offering a wide selection of styles, sizes, and colors so every shopper can find something that fits their personality and event.

During your visit, you’ll receive a 30-minute appointment that includes:

• One-on-one shopping and fitting assistance

• Access to hundreds of formal dress options

• Light refreshments while you browse

• A viewing area for friends or family members to help you decide

Library staff and volunteers will be available to help you explore the selection and find a dress that feels just right. The goal is to create a welcoming, supportive space where teens can enjoy the experience of prom shopping without financial pressure.

How Prom Shop Appointments Work

Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so early registration is encouraged.

The Prom Shop will take place in Laman Library’s Lecture Hall and will be open for appointments on April 10-13, and 13.

In addition to appointment times, the Prom Shop will be open to the public on April 14, allowing teens to browse the collection without a scheduled time slot.
