Mr. Rogers’ Sweater Drive Returns to North Little Rock for Year Four

Oct 26, 2026by Kevin Newsom

Donate winter coats, hats, and gloves at Laman and Argenta Libraries November 1-30, or learn to loom-knit a hat in our free Helping Hats classes

For the fourth year, the North Little Rock Public Library System is proud to partner with ArkansasTV for the Mr. Rogers’ Sweater Drive! Together, we’re helping bring warmth and comfort to our neighbors in need this winter.

We’re collecting new and gently used winter clothing and supplies for adults and children, including sweaters, coats, hats, gloves, pants, socks, shoes, and other cold-weather essentials. All donations will be distributed locally to our unsheltered neighbors through our community partner, The Van. The Mr. Rogers’ Sweater Drive runs November 1-30, but we will continue to gather cold-weather items for The Van through January 31.

Helping Hats Is Back!

We’re also excited to bring back our Helping Hats program! Whether you’re an experienced crafter or have never picked up a loom before, this is a fun and easy way to make a difference. Participants will learn how to loom-knit a cozy beanie while helping provide warmth to someone in need.

And there’s a little friendly competition, too! Helping Hats participants will have the opportunity to enter a contest to see who can make the most hats. The winner will receive a collection of goodies and a Michael’s gift card. Every hat donated will help keep someone in our community warm this winter, with all donations distributed through The Van.

How You Can Help

  • Donate: Look for Mr. Rogers’ Sweater Drive collection boxes at William F. Laman Public Library, 2801 Orange St., and Argenta Public Library, 420 Main St.
  • Get crafty: Join us for our first Helping Hats class on November 3 at 5:30 p.m. and discover how easy it is to loom-knit a beanie. More Helping Hats classes are scheduled throughout the drive, and you can find all the dates on our events calendar.
  • Spread the word: Invite friends, family, and neighbors to participate!

Every sweater, every hat, and every donation makes a difference. Together, we can help ensure our neighbors have the warmth and comfort they need during the colder months.

Let’s make this winter a little warmer for everyone!
