With a rich history of providing outstanding resources, innovative programs, and a welcoming environment, we feel this system name represents our strong connection to the community.    We began as the North Little Rock Public Library in 1946, and we are thrilled to embrace our vibrant community by renewing the North Little Rock Public Library System name. Our location on Orange Street was dedicated in honor of former North Little Rock Mayor William F. (Casey) Laman in 1962. Get ready for back-to-school with a two-week reading camp at Laman Library! During the program we’ll spend time reading together and completing computer-based reading activities with Reading Eggs. Reading Camp will be July 24 – August 3 on Mondays through Thursdays from 2 – 3:30 pm and is open to readers ages 7-13. Reading Eggs is an online platform that makes learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with online reading games and activities. Young readers love the games, songs, and rewards which, along with feeling proud of their reading, really motivate children to keep exploring and learning. Since 1987, September has marked Library Card Sign-up Month, an annual event where the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide emphasize obtaining a library card for academic success and lifelong learning. We invite you to support public libraries and their vital community role by participating in the “Bookworm Bargains” program. The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) and the North Little Rock Public Library System (NLRPLS) are collaboratively celebrating Library Card Signup Month.
