Free Solar Eclipse Glasses at NLRPLS

The North Little Rock Public Library System (NLRPLS) is gearing up for the much-anticipated 2024 Total Eclipse on April 8 by offering free solar eclipse glasses to the public. Thanks to the Arkansas State Library's generous donation of 22,400 pairs, residents can safely witness this celestial marvel. This collaborative effort extends statewide, with the Arkansas State Library supplying eclipse glasses to all public libraries. The initiative aims to enhance public engagement and ensure safe viewing of this awe-inspiring event. Starting March, residents can visit any NLRPLS location to claim one free pair of eclipse glasses per immediate family member, available while supplies last. Introducing The Loft's Teen Advisory Council (T.A.C)

We're psyched to introduce NLRPL's very first Teen Advisory Council (T.A.C.)! The Loft, NLRPL's dedicated teen space at Laman Library, is committed to working with our community rather than for them. In that spirit, the T.A.C. opened for applications last fall and these four teens were selected to lay its foundation. Tyler (he/him), Parker (he/him), Aaliyah (she/her), and Alisia (he/she/they) have already taken up responsibilities in the Loft, including an in-depth review of Loft policies, routine organization of our collection, and program planning. Upcoming plans for the group include a diversity audit of the Loft's collection, volunteering at major library events, and helping to plan near-future community aid programs (you'll have to wait and see what we've come up with, but...
